Link Building for SEO: What It Is, How to Do It, and What Are the Best Resources

Link building is one of the most important SEO techniques.

It not only increases your search engine ranking but also lets you form valuable relationships with other websites.

When these links are created correctly, they will provide you with high-quality backlinks that improve your own site’s ranking and help bring in more traffic.

What is Link Building?

Link building is the process of acquiring references to your website from other websites.

Search engines use links to crawl the web, following all external links presented on-site and all internal links that are provided in their crawling path.

When people go to Google and perform searches, the search engine not only presents links to articles that have been written about the topic, it also links to other relevant pages.

Acquiring links that you didn’t ask for should be one of your main goals for SEO.

It’s something that you should be striving toward and building over time by putting in the work to make your website link-worthy.

Building backlinks requires research, outreach, time, and the creation of high-quality content for others to link with you.

When you create your own links, Google often deems this as low quality because they are coming from the same site.

In the past, self-created links were sometimes used as a quick way to get website owners immediate SEO results.

That is no longer recommended due to Google’s policies and penalties for flagrant misuse of these techniques, so use other techniques to achieve your backlinks.

How do you do it?

One technique for developing links is to proactively seek out people to link to your content.

For example, guest posting on popular blogs or websites is a popular way to gain a high-quality link back to your site.

These types of links are stronger than many other types because of the sites they originate from.

The other technique is through user-generated links.

These come from people who are linking to your content on their own sites because they either like it, want others to know about it, or believe that the information is important.

In order to do this, you not only need something to promote that is link-worthy and grabs the attention of your audience.

If you can employ a variety of link-building techniques on your site, you will increase your site’s authority and rank better in organic search. Some of the other ways to do this include:
