Top 10 Content Creation Sites

Unless you have your own media production capability, content creation can be a challenge, especially if your personal creativity skills are lacking. After you have planned your campaign, identified and researched your audiences, and transitioned into the preparation phase, you may discover that the content you had in mind is harder to create than initially thought. Fortunately, there are some excellent resources for creating content for your website.

What is Content Creation?

As you are searching the web, you will see many posts like this that define content creation in different ways. Hubspot, one of the most popular Inbound Marketing platforms, defines content creation as:

The process of generating topic ideas that appeal to your buyer persona, creating written or visual content around those ideas, and making that information accessible to your audience as a blog, video, infographic, or other format.

Utilizing that definition, here are 10 websites that help you create videos, infographics, photos, and other content for your website:

1. Canva

Canva is an easy, drag-and-drop website, that helps you create images for your website, social media posts, business cards, presentations, and other branded products. They offer a Free version with access to over 8,000 templates, the ability to upload your own images or purchase image for $1. After you’ve tried out the free version and if you’re willing to pay a little more, you can go up to the Pro version which includes among other things free images, custom fonts, and palettes, all for $12.95 per month. Finally, they offer an Enterprise version for teams of five or more for $30 per month.

2. Adobe Spark

Adobe Spark is an online and mobile design app that allows you to create stunning social media graphics, web pages, and short videos. Once logged in, you can choose from a variety of photos, icons, and fonts and distribute them accordingly via the Spark Post, Spark Page, or Spark Video. They offer a free starter plan, but the options are limited. You can choose between the Individual Plan for $9.99 per month or the Team Plan for $19.99 per month, or if you are already an Adobe Creative Cloud subscriber, you get access to it for free.

3. Envato Elements

Personally, Envato Elements is one of my favorites. For a monthly fee of only $16.50 per month, you get unlimited downloads and access to over a million graphic templates, stock photos, design assets, video, music, and more. They also recently acquired Twenty20 which gives you access to an additional 50 million photos with your membership. While there are places to get royalty-free stock photos for free, the number of images available on these sites is relatively small, and having this many assets in one place makes it very convenient.

4. Promo

If you are looking to add a video to your sites, then Promo might be an option. Promo has over 15 million video clips, text animation, an easy-to-use editor, and 12 Premium clips to download per year for a monthly fee of $29 per month for the Basic plan. The Standard plan increases your Premium clips to 100 per year and allows you to add a watermark for $59 per month. They also have categories listed for Business, Real Estate, Marketing, Travel, e-Commerce, Recruiting, and HR, so especially if you work in one of these areas this site might be worth a look.

5. Giphy

Giphy allows you to search millions of pre-created GIFs or even create your own, and best of all it’s free. All you need to do is create an account and follow the instructions. They also are accepting applications for Brand Channels if you are looking to get in early on this platform. While they are not charging any fees, there is an expectation that at some point they will monetize the site. Until they do, enjoy!
